Finding Humour in Small Mishaps

There are times when you simply have to laugh. One thing that always brings a chuckle or helps me see the lighter side of a tough day is when my Mum adopts different accents during her outbursts. Sometimes she reverts to a Cockney accent, at other times she sounds like she’s from the Deep South, and occasionally she turns Irish! How or why this happens, I will never know, but it makes me laugh every time.
If I were to get technical, we have family heritage from Ireland, relatives living overseas, and her late father-in-law was a Londoner. Could these be the connections?
There are other amusing instances as well; for example, Mum will put on multiple layers of clothing and end up resembling the Michelin Man, or Old Mother Hubbard, with a towel or any of our clothes draped over her head. Something as simple as walking around the house in my brother's oversized walking boots, sounding like John Wayne, gives me the urge to burst out laughing, even when the mood in the room suggests otherwise.
I find it harmless and beneficial to seek humour in simple things. While I can’t find laughter in everything—and that’s okay—the things I can appreciate truly help.
